Numeracy Block

Here i will show you what i do in Numeracy block.

MATHS BLOCK

AT SCHOOL WE HAVE TO DO A FAMILY MATHS CHALLENGE 9.

SOME TIMES THEY ARE HARD BUT MOST OF THE TIME THEY ARE EASY.

THIS IS WHAT I THINK THE ANSWER IS FOR THE MATHS: Thursday.

I thought at First it was hard but then I changed my mind and it was easy.

Have a look at my other ones and you should make one up your self.

Area

In class we are doing "Area".

I like Area because you can use your ruler and other objects.

We did a chart on the 12/11/09 and our teacher gave us 3 things to Measure.

They where:

Desks

Windows

Grid book

With them we had to use 3 different object to Measure.

The objects where:

Desks: MAB 100's

Windows: Your hands

Grid Book: Counters

I found everything easy because I new how to do it.

MATHS I HAVE TO DO?

TODAY I HAD TO DO MY MATHS PART OF MY HOMEWORK.

I THOUGHT IT IS A BIT HARD BECAUSE YOU HAD TO FIND WHERE EVERYTHING IS.

I FIGURED OUT THAT BY GOING UP AND DOWN THE COLUMN AS THIS MADE IT EASIER TO DO.

IF I WENT STRAIGHT DOWN THE COLUMN IT WOULD BE CONFUSING.

IF I HAD TO DO ANOTHER ONE I KNOW HOW TO DO IT.

Family maths challenge

Today I did the Math block for homework.

This was our question we had to do?


How many cubes would be needed to make the steps 9 steps high?

I thought that if you sit for about 10-15 min and you draw it out then you will get the answer.
Well I draw mine out and I think I got the answer. My answer was 49.

It was a bit hard at first because I did not get it but now I do.

Patterns

Today the 22ND of July 4/5r learnt about patterns.
Most people would know REPEATING PATTERNS AND GROWING PATTERNS. Hear is what I wrote in my book when 4/5r did patterns.


A REPEATING PATTERN IS SOMETHING THAT KEEPS ON GOING. FOR E.G

A GROWING PATTERN (INCREASING/ DECREASING).

Mathleics

Today is the 24Th of June 2009.

At school year TWO up to year SEVEN are doing a maths game web site called mathletics.

It is the best maths game ever because you can play lot and lots of games.

2 TIME TABLE

In team 1,2 and 3 my class 4/5R learnt about 2 time tables.

They are the easy one because they are a doubles.

Here are some 2 time tables.

2x1=2, 2x2=4, 2x3=6, 2x4=8, 2x5=10, 2x6=12, 2x7=14, 2x8=16, 2x9=18 and 2x10=20.

Have a go at them because they are very fun.

Time

At school 4/5r have been learning about time.

For maths in class we learn about time.

I think that time is good to look at because it helps you a lot with what the time is.

My teacher Mrs ''R'' thought about making clocks because it will help us so we

do not have to hunt for a clock.

It was a bit hard making the clock because you had to get a pin and push it through the clock.

Homework for week 8 and 9

Today is the 15Th of June and I did the Maths part of my homework.

This week we had to make 2 equal squares out of 6 toothpicks.

It was a bit hard at first because you did not know what it was going to be and I got mad.

I think that it should be easy because it will take up less time.

Buzz

In class we play a game called BUZZ.

This game is good for you counting and lots more.

Most of the time the hole class plays it for maths.

It is a good game to play with maths.

This is how you play it.

Everyone stands up behind there chair.

Then the teacher picks 1-what ever number and then when they come to that number they have to say BUZZ.

Bar graph

Today is the 3/6/09 and 4/5R learnt about a BAR GRAPH. I think that bar graph's are very easy when you get into it. Our class has been learning about this for a long time. We have been doing one every day this week and for the people that have not done one before then I think that they know how to do one now because we have done it for a long time. You should have a go at it because it can get your brain working. If it is hard leave me a comment and i will leave one on your to tell you what to do.

Buzz off your out

Today is the 3/6/09. In my class 4/5r sometimes for maths we play a game of buzz off your out. If you know how to play DON'T BREAK THE ICE then you should know how to play buzz off your out. Buzz off your out is the same as don't break the ice. After you have spelled the word you say buzz off your out and then the person that has said out it is the next person that is out.

Family Maths Challenge

Every Monday our class 45r get homework.
For homework we get a maths challenge and alot more.
Every second week 45r get a new homework sheet and a new maths challenge.

I realy like maths because you learn and can teach someone.

Polygons

I have put this on my blog to show you what I have learnt in class.

I did this with a group of people from 4/5r.

It was very fun because we got to go on the computer.

Fraction

For Maths in 4/5r we are learning about Fraction. Fraction are very fun to do for maths because you get to write in your book IF you like writing. I try and practise them every day because they are fun. If you don't like doing Fraction then do them more often and then you should like then. I did not like them at first but then i did then more and i started to like then and know i love them.
